About Barry

If you are wondering how a top farrier and blacksmith for over thirty years made the leap to a sought after photographer, you are not alone. Barry Denton has traveled coast to coast in the US, Canada, Dominican Republic and Mexico shoeing and consulting for top trainers of race and show horses. It takes a special eye and skills to be a top professional farrier. He has taken this unique perspective and applied it to his photography. In Barry’s photos of cowboys and ranch life you can feel his passion and see his knowledge of the subject. The glamour and fashion shots are set in the natural light of the great outdoors. Don’t be surprised if his pin-up girls take you back to the 1950’s and ‘60s. 

Barry lives and photographs in northern Arizona’s beautiful mountains, rocks and forests.  He trains Reining horses and Cow Horses everyday. While showing their horses Barry and his wife Laurel own and operate the Bar U Bar Ranch in Skull Valley, Arizona. The ranch raises registered Quarter Horses and still remains a working cattle ranch today. 

Barry’s photos and articles have been published in numerous magazines. His cowboy portraits have been exhibited at Photo Expo in Manhattan, NY. Barry has produced ten consecutive advertising calendars for Crown Performance Company of California.
